MVCT Continues the Tradition of Snow Prince and Princess in Henry County

The Maumee Valley Civic Theater (MVCT) will continue the Holiday tradition of the Snow Prince and Snow Princess would be willing on to take on this Henry County tradition. MVCT President, Jeffrey Tonjes said, “We were excited to take on this tradition, as many of us remember doing this when we were in elementary school.”

“MVCT is unclear when this tradition started and were ready to grab the reindeer by the horns, we mean antlers” said Tonjes. This Henry County Tradition has local third graders to write cards and/or letters to Senior Citizens that are residents in the Nursing Homes in Henry County. The card/letter should be about what Christmas means to them and how they celebrate the season. Once their essay/card have been written, the schools submitted them to the MVCT Parade committee where a boy and girl from each class was selected. The winners, have the opportunity to ride on the MVCT float during this year’s Christmas parade through downtown Napoleon on Saturday, December 11th at 10:00 AM. After the parade, the winners will be recognized on the front steps of the Henry County Courthouse where they will receive a certificate and a trophy.

Tonjes also stated, “The participation in the “Snow Prince and Princess” program over the years has been outstanding and we feel it is another avenue to recognize children and offer them a special memory for years to come.” All the essays will be distributed to local nursing homes during this holiday season.
