About Us

Founded in the 1960s, Maumee Valley Civic Theatre (MVCT) is proud to be one of the longest-standing arts organizations in Henry County, bringing the magic of live theatre to the region for over 60 years. As a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, our mission is simple yet profound: to enrich and educate our community through the performing arts.

What Sets MVCT Apart?

At MVCT, our focus is on creating an inclusive, welcoming environment where everyone in our community—regardless of age, background, or experience—can engage with and enjoy the arts. Whether as an actor, a backstage crew member, or a member of our appreciative audience, we offer a place for all to be involved in the theatrical experience.

We believe that theatre is not just about entertainment—it is a catalyst for personal growth and community connection. Through every performance, MVCT aims to foster a deeper sense of belonging, encourage creative expression, and contribute to the overall well-being of the people of Henry County and beyond.

A Legacy of Impact

For over six decades, MVCT has impacted the lives of individuals and families in Northwest Ohio. We recognize the arts as a powerful educational, personal development, and community service tool. The arts help youth develop critical social, emotional, and academic skills while encouraging creativity and self-expression. Through theatre, we can reach hearts and minds, plant ideas, and provoke conversations that influence how we see the world.

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

At MVCT, inclusion, diversity, equity, and accessibility are at the heart of everything we do. We believe in creating a theatre environment where all voices are heard, valued, and represented—both on stage and behind the scenes. We are committed to bringing stories to life that reflect a wide range of experiences, including those of individuals with disabilities, people from diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds, and those who have often been underrepresented in mainstream media.

Inclusion in the arts is not just a buzzword; it’s a belief that everyone deserves to see themselves reflected in the stories told. In fact, nearly one in five Americans identifies as having a disability, and we believe it’s vital to bring their stories to the stage. By fostering an inclusive environment, we create a space where all community members can connect, find common ground, and discover new perspectives.

A Community-Driven Organization

As an all-volunteer organization, MVCT relies on the support of individuals, local businesses, and community partners to continue our work. Ticket sales, donations, and advertising support our ability to produce high-quality performances and offer a variety of educational programs that serve all ages. But perhaps the most crucial way to help your local theatre is by attending our shows. Every ticket purchased is an investment in our community’s future of the arts.

In addition to watching performances, there are many other ways to support MVCT—from volunteering your time or talents to making a financial donation. No matter how you choose to help, your support is vital to ensuring that theatre continues to thrive in Henry County.

Moving Forward

As we look to the future, MVCT is committed to continuing our tradition of excellence and expanding our reach within the community. We are excited about the possibilities ahead, but we need your help to make them a reality.

Join us in supporting the arts, building bridges between cultures, and helping our community grow stronger. Whether sitting in the audience, lending your skills backstage, or contributing financially, your involvement makes a difference.

Together, we can ensure that the arts continue to inspire, educate, and bring us all closer together.

How You Can Help

If you want to support your local theatre, the best way is to be part of it—whether through purchasing tickets, volunteering, or donating. Your support sustains the arts and helps us create the unique cultural experiences of our community.

The arts are essential to a healthy, vibrant community. At Maumee Valley Civic Theatre, we’re here to ensure they continue to thrive for years to come—together, with your help.
