The Henry County Christmas Parade

2024 Parade Theme: Home for the Holidays

Henry County’s Annual Christmas Parade and tree lighting date has been set for Saturday, November 23, 2024, along with a new route for this local tradition.

Maumee Valley Civic Theater (MVCT) is excited and honored to present this Henry County tradition of the Annual Christmas Parade and tree lighting again on Saturday, November 23, 2024, starting at 5:00 PM. This year’s parade will begin at the intersection of W. Main and W. Perry streets, continue down Main Street as it heads to W. Washington Street, and finish in front of the Henry County Courthouse.

The Snow Prince and Princess winners will be acknowledged at the parade’s end, followed by the county’s Christmas tree lighting!

“It’s essential to Maumee Valley Civic Theater to continue this time-honored tradition in Henry County, and what better way for the community to experience it but with the whole family before Thanksgiving,” said Jeffrey Tonjes, MVCT President.

“It’s always been a goal of mine to have the tree light along with the city lights like it was when I was growing up and moving the date will help us accomplish that,” Tonjes explained.

MVCT (has organized the holiday parade for the past three years after being asked by past organizers Roger and Kathy Hefflinger.

This year the Napoleon Police cars have tried to circumvent the barricades during the parade, which has caused a potential safety hazard to the community.

“We changed the route because the Napoleon Police Chief was concerned for parade goers’ safety,” Tonjes continued.

This great event allows Henry County to unite as a community and kick off the holiday season! MVCT asks that you use your holiday spirit to decorate a car, truck, trailer, or semi-truck with lights, signs, balloons, and music! You can walk or ride and hand out candy or discount coupons.

Interested participants can sign up by visiting the MVCT’s website at www.mvctohhio.org or by calling (419) 581-9011.

We look forward to seeing our community join us to kick off the holiday season and spread Christmas cheer!

More details will be released close to the event.
