About Us
Founded in the 1960s, Maumee Valley Civic Theatre (MVCT) is one of the oldest Arts organizations in Henry County.
What sets MVCT apart? Our focus on reaching out to our entire community and concentrating on our mission:
Maumee Valley Civic Theater is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to enriching and educating the community through the performing arts.
Our goal is to help everyone in our community share in the excitement of participating in theatre—as actors, backstage crew, or audience members.
Our 2022-2023 Board of Directors
The Maumee Valley Civic Theater bylaws state that the affairs of the Theatre and the direction of it’s work and it’s programs are vested in a Board of Directors consisting of seven members, which include four officers (President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer) and Officers at Large elected for a 2 (two) year term. Jeffrey is currently the President of the Maumee Valley Civic Theater, a member of the Ohio Artist Professional Network, a ER and Outpatient Registration Clerk at the Henry County Hospital, and the Fountain City Amphitheater Coordinator in Bryan, OH. Jeffrey is a Napoleon native and a Napoleon High School graduate. After graduation Jeffrey attended college at the DePaul University - Barat Campus in Chicago where he received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Acting and Directing and where he also studied Stage Management and Sound Design. After college, he opened a black box Theater company, Oracle Productions, with some of his college buddies in downtown Chicago. Jeffrey has directed Maumee Valley Civic Theater show which include The SpongeBob Musical, Willy Wonka, The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane, The Addam’s Family, Wizard of Oz and The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee for Maumee Valley Civic Theater.
Melanie Cover is currently the Vice President of the Maumee Valley Civic Theater, Account Manager for Rock Solid Landscape, LLC in Wauseon, and a mother of five. Melanie is a Napoleon High School graduate. After graduation she attended college at Phoenix University where she received her Bachelor of Business Management with a certification in Human Resources. She has 17 years experience in Recruiting, Staffing, and Human Resources. This is Melanie's second year with Maumee Valley Civic Theater. Some of her favorite MVCT shows include The Addams Family, Seussical, All Together Now, and SpongeBob. She would like to thank the MVCT donors, advertisers, and patrons, for supporting local community theater. The Arts are super important in our community and without you, theater in our community and the arts would not be possible.
Angie discovered the joy and camaraderie of theater in high school. She has participated in many backstage roles over the years. As an adult Angie was quite excited to jump back in and help with our outstanding community theater team. Some great shows she has been a part of include; Little Shop of Horrors, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, A View from the Bridge, Cinderella, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown, and SpongeBob the Musical.
When Angie is not helping out on stage or behind the scenes she am busy entertaining third graders or you can find her reading a book, hiking a trail, planting some flowers or kayaking down the river. Angie would like to say thanks to all who help keep the arts alive in our little town.
Amanda grew up in Napoleon and is currently the Treasurer of the Maumee Valley Civic Theater. She has been a part of seven shows with Maumee Valley Civic Theater. Her theater credits include the The SpongeBob Musical, 25th Putnam County Spelling Bee, The Wizard of Oz, The Addams Family, Willy Wonka, Seussical, and You’re a Goodman Charlie Brown. In her spare time she enjoys time with her family and friends and enjoys helping plan the next show or event for MVCT. She is a mom of two, Joey who is twelve and Sofia who is five.
Kayla Ehlers is from Napoleon and married to her best friend, Chris. She is a Mom to Landon 15, Brenna 13 and Ansley 5. You can normally find Kayla backstage "Momming" the littles! Kayla got involved with MVCT after her daughter's started participating in the shows.
